I served the college for almost 11 years in the communications office, working as a senior writer, a coordinator, and finally as director. Prior to my work at the college, I was a freelance journalist. My career began in newspapers where I was a reporter for five different newspapers across the country. I am the single mom of a 22-year-old son who is finishing his degree in psychology at the U.

Latest update on my job search, old friends!
I am taking a temporary position in the office of Robert Jones, senior VP for system academic administration, reporting to Kathy Yaeger, an old pal from U Relations. The job is good through the end of December and the hope is that Robert will dig up some money to carry me to the end of the fiscal year and, best case scenario, make the position permanent.
During August I will be bouncing back and forth between Donhowe and Morrill getting started on the new position but continuing to help Lori Ann handle a vacancy that she is in the process of filling. Robert's office will become full-time in September.
The CLA gig did not pan out and I was ready to apply for Lori Ann's vacancy (civil service and a 33% pay cut) when Kathy sorted through things and got me on board. So while it's temporary, it's got legs, and pays well, so we'll see.
Latest job search update:
I have an interview with CLA on May 27.
I have been contacted unofficially by two different entities on campus asking if I would be interested in possible upcoming openings. I've told both I am interested.
Haven't heard anything from Nursing yet regarding followup to the first interview.
An update on my current job search:
* Finalist for director of Communications, U Libraries; librarian from Illinois beat me out.
* Eliminated after first interview for director of communications, College of Pharmacy
* Did not get first interviews with Extension or the Office for Vice President for Research
* Finalist for director of communications for Upper Midwest Junior Achievement, withdrew myself from consideration
* Had first interview for director of communications, School of Nursing, awaiting word on next steps.
* Applications in for positions in CLA, Hamline Graduate Schools, and Pearson Publications.
* Putting together application for U Medical Foundation.

Still haven't heard from School of Nursing.
Interviewed at CLA Tuesday, May 27. Went very well from my perspective. They're interviewing NINE candidates.
Applied for the Med Foundation job. Haven't heard anything yet.
Never heard from Hamline, but that was a long shot.
Have been invited to interview for the comm director position at the U of M Rochester. First interview is June 5.
Am thinking of applying for Mpls Schools comm director position, may be out of my league, but maybe not. Can't hurt, right?
